Earth's Way Lawncare

Owner Jacob Lewis's story starts with Midland agriculture. His great-great-grandfather, George Bergtold, was among the area's early agricultural farmers in the early 1900s. He sold the farm to Herbert Dow — the land is still used for agricultural studies, and the original barn still stands. That lineage fuels Jacob's passion for agricultural chemistry and healthy turf.

For about 20 years he has studied and built a career in the industry — from door-to-door lawncare sales after high school, to helping build a national franchise that set company records and was recognized by Lawn and Landscape Magazine as the fastest-growing lawncare franchise in the nation in 2011.

In 2016, Jacob obtained a Michigan pesticide applicator’s business license through Michigan State Agriculture and started Earth's Way Lawn Care — offering more personable service, higher-quality products, detailed practices, and organic options.

Based in Midland, MI, the company has stayed intentionally small while serving 500+ properties across the Great Lakes Bay Area. The goal is partnership: educate customers on best practices so lawns and landscapes stay green, thick, healthy, and weed- and pest-free.

We take a golf-course maintenance approach to residential lawns — and the same care for commercial and municipal properties. Customized seasonal programs cover high-quality fertilizer, weed control, and pest control. Every property is different; we plan treatments around yours.
